Slice It is an educational game designed to introduce fundamental technology and programming concepts to college students from non-STEM backgrounds and those with limited prior exposure to technology.
The core idea was to teach abstract concepts through familiar, low-stress interactions, inspired by simple arcade-style mechanics.
The guiding question was:
How can technical concepts feel approachable to students who do not identify as "technical"?
We modeled early programming ideas through a Fruit Ninja–style interaction using shapes and visual metaphors, prioritizing calmness, familiarity, and play.
Slice It was presented across multiple outreach and workshop settings, including:
- TAP Expo 2022 (GGC)
- GCPS Career Event (October 15, 2022)
- Classroom workshops for non-technical college students
We also conducted research and collected feedback to understand how familiarity affects engagement and learning.
I served as an adjunct project lead and worked across:
- UI/UX design and early prototyping
- Asset creation in Blender and Figma
- Logo design and visual materials
- Supporting development and assisting with C# when needed
I worked closely with developers to ensure the visual and interaction design aligned with learning goals.
